Certified Commercial Raft Guide

That's me in the back! I am a certified 'Class IV' commercial raft guide on the Poudre River, with more experience in commercial on the Colorado and Clear Creek. Oh, and the company I worked for did snowmobiles, too.

Travel

That photo of me on the horse was taken in Argentina. I'm a self-made world traveler who has lived, worked and played in a myriad of countries in North America, Europe and South America as well as nearly all the US states. Let's see - U.K., France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Czech Rep., Iceland, Cuba, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Belize, Cayman Islands, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada. It is true and I can confirm that traveling and often also hardship are two of life's greatest teachers. While my travels were rarely luxurious, they were often prolonged resulting from remaining frugal or even being paid to work there. In point of fact, it's true that I compared notes with Nomadic Matt and Danielle Abroad while visiting Rocking J's in Costa Rica!

Water Polo and Swimming

I played collegiate water polo in college where I was a starter and sprinter / defensive specialist. I was a four year letter athlete for swimming in high school for which I was a state level athlete as well as a team captain. Prior, I set swimming records at Westfield Pool.

My Story

St. Lawrence River

I was part of a three-man crew which chartered from Chicago to Boston via the St. Lawrence Waterway. Prior to this, I worked on the historic Schooner Appledore II in Key West, FL. I am also an SSI-certified scuba diver with experience in both international blue water and zero-visibility frigid lake water.
